HD4中压断路器利用六氟化硫(SF6)气体作为灭弧和绝缘介质。SF6气体具有平滑的开断特性，在其中开断电流时不会出现截流现象，不会产生操作过电压。
这种优良的特性确保了断路器具有很长的电气寿命。且在运行中对设备的冲击，介电水平和热应力均不会有影响。
断路器的极柱，即灭弧室部份，是终身免维护的封闭系统。其密封寿命符合GB 1984-2003和IEC 62271-100和CEI17-1标准。
HD4断路器分/合闸过程由ESH型弹簧操动机构来完成。操动机构和极柱是固定在同一金属构架上，它同时作为手车，可在开关设备内沿导轨推入和移出，手车移动可以在柜门关闭时操作。轻巧紧凑的断路器结构保证了其坚固和可靠。

HD4断路器可用于UniGear ZS3.2开关设备。
应用场合
HD4断路器可使用于配电线路、变电所、配电站、电动机、变压器和电容器组的控制和保护。
由于采用SF6热膨胀+压气助吹灭弧技术，HD4断路器不会产生操作过电压， 因而它非常适合使用于那些对绝缘材料的介电强度水平要求特别敏感的场合，尤其适合电容器组、补偿电抗器、电动机等容性、感性负载的应用场所。
