1、雷电电磁脉冲侵入建筑物的途径
-直接雷：闪电直接击在建筑物、其他物体、大地、或防雷装置上，产生电应、热效应和机械力者。
-雷电波侵入：由于雷电对架空线路或金属管道的作用，雷电波可能沿着这些管线（如电源线、信号线等）侵入屋内，危及人身安全或损坏设备。
-空间电磁感应：由于雷电流迅速变化在其周围空间产生瞬变的强电磁场，使附近导体感应到很高的电动势。
2、电力系统操作过电压
大负载（感性大负载）电器设备开关时，便会产生瞬间过电压；供电网络上连接的大量电力电子器件组成的用电设备（整流电路、开关电源）会给供电网络带来干扰，形成电涌过电压。
-重负荷的投入和切除，如电梯、大功率空调机、冷冻机、医疗设备以及大功率的设备。
-感性负荷的投入和切除，如电机或继电器的线圈、带负荷的变压器。
-功率因素补尝电容器的投入和切除。
-断路器或保险装置的操作。
-短路故障。
3、静电电磁干扰
电涌保护器(SPD)不能防止静电电磁干扰，要考虑其它工程措施解决该类危害。
